After Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels and Virgin Holidays, the Virgin Group, created by the famous Richard Branson, has recently embarked on the cruise niche under the Virgin Voyages banner. Its first ship, Scarlet Lady, has been operating from PortMiami since October 2021. Here are 5 reasons to choose Virgin Voyages for your next cruise.

1 – For adults only

Virgin Voyages is an assumed choice and targets adults over the age of 18, and in particular millennials. No children, but seniors are more than welcome, especially if they have kept a young mind and are comfortable with mobile applications!

Once past boarding, passengers are called “sailors”.The guests of the suites are “Rock Star”.

The Virgin Voyages mobile application allows you to make a reservation of the restaurant for dinner in a few clicks or to check which excursions are available. In short, you will need a smartphone!

Here and there on the ship, you will find a lot of places to take pictures and selfies, to publish them on your social networks.

Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, offers itineraries in the heart of the Caribbean to nearly 2770 passengers, with the help of 1160 crew members. The ship is 277 meters long and has 17 decks, 13 of which are for passengers.

The second ship in the fleet, Valiant Lady, has similar dimensions to Scarlet Lady. At launch in March 2022, the ship was positioned in Portsmouth, England, with short routes to Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Since May, Valiant Lady has been positioned in Barcelona and offers cruises in the Mediterranean Sea. In October, it will reposition itself in Miami, in order to offer winter itineraries in the Caribbean, and summer routes in the Mediterranean Sea.

Note that 86% of cabins have a balcony and 93% have a view of the ocean!

Virgin Voyages will double its fleet by 2023, with two more ships, Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady.

3 – Well-being at the center of everything

It’s well known, millennials love to take care of themselves! With the “Vitamin Sea”, the wellness center for ships, “sailors” will be able to indulge in a lot of sports and relaxing activities, thanks to state-of-the-art facilities developed on three decks.

Thus, fitness center enthusiasts will join the “Gym and Tonic” and runners will go to the “Runway”. Note that all fitness classes are free, including yoga, pilates, meditation, bar, HIIT or spin! The spa, called Redemption Spa, is embellished with a beauty salon (“Tune Up”), a barber, and also a… tattooist!

The ship offers a mix of activities on the one hand energizing, on the other relaxing.

4 – Enticing inclusions

Here’s a tempting reason to choose Virgin Voyages: the twenty or so restaurants available on the ships are included in the price! The company prides itself on having no buffet; here, we are more in specialty restaurants, such as a Steakhouse, a Korean BBQ, a vegetarian restaurant or specialized in brunches!

On the drinks side, all so-called “basic” drinks are included: coffee, tea, juice or mineral water. For alcoholic beverages, it will cost about $9 for a glass of wine or $13 for a cocktail.

Wi-Fi, fitness classes and tips to the crew are also included!

Finally, be aware that all Caribbean itineraries include a stopover at the Beach Club in Bimini, Bahamas. Virgin Voyages has a portion of beach completely privatized for its guests, with free sun loungers and umbrellas. The “Rock Stars” have access to a VIP section.

5 – A terminal dedicated to PortMiami

Last February, Virgin Voyages inaugurated its brand new cruise terminal, Terminal V, located in Port Miami. The beautiful terminal, which aims for LEED gold certification, was built on 3 floors and enjoys unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay, downtown and Edgewater. Outside, a huge “Sail the Virgin Way” sign sets the tone. Guests who have booked suites will enjoy private VIP boarding.

Since last February, Scarlet Lady has been offering multi-night itineraries in the heart of the Caribbean from this new terminal in Miami. Valiant Lady will follow during the winter of 2022.
